Many top cloud and climate models are written in the FORTRAN programming language. We found that quite a few incoming students in all facets of Atmospheric Science lack FORTRAN knowledge and find they need it in their graduate program. On the Cutting Edge is a project which helps those in the geosciences stay up-to-date with both geoscience research and teaching methods.
